These poke bowls are amazingly fresh and filling. The salmon and tuna are high quality and the house sauce on the fish is delicious. The spam musubi is also excellent. Not sure if it's because we didn't eat it right away, but the rice was not as soft and a bit chewy. The restaurant is actually more like a stand where you order the food and then sit outside in the patio to eat. The lines are long as well. It took approximately 40 mins to get to the front of the line. Parking is not bad as you can park along the sidewalk, but it definitely gets crowded. If you're in the area, it's definitely worth getting.

Good quality poke! Came here on a Wednesday afternoon around 530 and there was a line of about 10 people. The staff do take their time so be prepared to wait. You order at the door of the restaurant, and guessing they do that because it is a tight fit inside. Not a big place. Closes at 6pm. They charge extra for everything so we only got the base fish and rice/cabbage. Fish tasted good. The original sauce had a kick to it so if you don't like spicy be advised! Limited amount of outdoor seating. Limited amount of parking in the small lot but it looked like there was some street parking.

We initially wanted to come here because of their limited time bluefin tuna sashimi special but unfortunately they were sold out. We came on a Sunday and we were the first ones in line when they opened. We ended up ordering the salmon and octopus in the original blend flavor and it was delicious! The quality of the salmon was amazing and I was surprised because this was the best salmon I've had at any poke spot. I love the flavor of the original blend. It had a mix of ponzu, sesame oil, chili flakes, and more. The seats are very limited and the line gets long when they open so it's best to get there probably around 15-30 minutes early so you don't have to wait in the long line.

Stopped at Kawamata Seafood on the way home from La Jolla. Even at 5PM on a Saturday, there's a healthy line of folks ready for a poké bowl. But it moves pretty fast. For the most part, the line moves fast so long as folks understand and adhere to the simple ordering system: size, base, sauce, protein, and toppings...and any sides. I had them load mine with half brown rice and cabbage base, all the proteins (tuna, salmon & octopus), house sauce, seaweed salad, and krab. It was pretty good...but it had been a very busy day and this was my first proper meal after a small snack at 9AM. I will say that the tuna was significantly better than the salmon. The octopus was more texture than super tasty. My companion agreed that the tuna was better than the salmon and enjoyed having corn as a topping option for texture and sweetness. The tuna & spicy tuna bowl was the most successful. Down to know if anyone has favorite combinations/concoctions for my next visit. The spam musubi is super cute and a fun snack. This is a nice halfway stop between SD and home for us. I can also see how parking can be rough during busy periods. We found parking at the spinal center a street behind the complex.

Kawamata Seafood is FRESH!! Which is exactly what you want in a poke spot. The ambiance is very much beachside quick eats. The service was incredibly fast and the food is great quality. This place is a staple to the area.

One of the best Hawaiian style pokes in OC! The fish is super fresh and packed with flavor in each bite. Definitely recommend adding crispy garlic as it adds a great crunch and a garlicy component. I got the tuna, salmon, and octopus, to try them all, with spicy mayo and I was surprised that the octopus was pretty tender. I would skip the spam musubi though as you can't really taste the egg and there's a little too much rice for my liking. Service was great as well as the person taking our order was kind and the food came out right away. There's a few tables outside but there's a grassy area overseeing the beach just a 5-10 min walk from there. If you're struggling to choose between the small and large size, get the large.

Great Hawaiian style poke place in Dana Point! We arrived at around noon on a Sunday and there was a pretty long line of people waiting to order. It went by fairly quickly, took about 15-20 minutes until we were able to order. We ordered two regular poke bowls and two spam musubis and they were ready within minutes of us ordering! The fish was fresh and I enjoyed the original blend flavor. The toppings were a bit more expensive but they gave us a lot so it made sense. Definitely get the garlic chips as a topping as it adds some crunch and flavor!

As someone born and raised in Hawaii I will say this place is really good! I commute here for some legit Poke! They have a free shared (but small) parking lot, a few outdoor tables. You order at the door and the orders are all "to-go". Service is friendly here and they move quickly!
